Overclock Galaxy Y to 1.2 GHz

Galaxy Y has a 832MHz  processor. Which is sufficient for normal use of the phone, but for gaming part its really very low(even the GPU is lower), you cannot play many of the games because of this reason, and if it plays, game lag will never leave you.
So i suggest you to Overclock Galaxy Y to 1.2GHz.
But there are few disadvantages of this. By Overclocking, the phone may run faster but it drains the battery very fast, also heats up your phone. The circuits in the phone may burn off because of running the phone in that frequency for longer time. Anyhow you can underclock it to suitable frequencies.

By flashing a custom kernel called 'Merruk's kernel' you can overclock Galaxy Y.

How to flash Merruk custom Kernel:

  • BEFORE FLASHING MERRUK'S KERNEL TO THE PHONE, YOU SHOULD MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP OF THE CURRENT ROM THAT YOU ARE USING. THIS IS BECAUSE AFTER FLASHING YOU SHOULD RESTORE THIS BACKUP IN ORDER TO REBOOT. CLICK HERE TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP.

Files required:
·        Boot.img (Merruk 2.0)
·        CWM by mad team
·        Elite kernel modules

Put all these files in the root of the sd card (not within any folder)

  • FOR SAFE INSTALL YOU MUST BE ON STOCK ROM AND KERNEL.

PROCEDURE:
1.   Turn off the device and go to recovery mode by pressing volume up + power + home buttons together.
2.   Now select  ‘apply update from sd card’ and select the CWM.ZIP, you will enter the cwm recovery.
3.    In cwm recovery go to ‘mounts and storage’ and mount system, data, cache and sd casd.
4.   Now select ‘install zip from sd card’ and select KERNEL + UPDATE.ZIP and flash it (select YES when prompted).
5.    Go back and mount system again.
6.    Again select ‘install zip from sd card’ and flash EXT4-CONVERTER-SIGNED.ZIP in cwm, then flash ELITE KERNEL MODULES.ZIP.
7.   In cwm go to backup and restore>Advanced restore(select the backup which you had made just before flashing this kernel) >restore system, cache and data. DONOT RESTORE BOOT.IMG.
8.   Reboot the system.
9.   If you are stuck at the bootloop, remove the battery again enter cwm recovery and wipe data and cache, and again restore system and data.
                10.  If you still cannot reboot, remove the battery and enter cwm recovery, then wipe                            data and cache. Then repeat the same procedure from step 1.

            * It’s a stable kernel with only a single bug ( boot sound ).

            * IF YOU WANT TO FLASH ANY CUSTOM ROMS AFTER                         FLASHING THIS KERNEL,                    MAKE SURE YOU                       HAVE REMOVED THE ‘BOOT.IMG’ FROM THE ROM’S ZIP                 USING PC.

            * This kernel has a wide range of clock frequencies 234 MHz,                     288 MHz, 312 MHz, 416MHz, 468 MHz, 624 MHz, 832 MHz,                   936 MHz and 1.248 GHz.

            * Install No-frills CPU app and                    set the maximum clock                             frequency as 1.248 GHz and                   enjoy.
