Requirements : 

1. A rooted galaxy Y mobile. If you dont know how to root , know it here

   

2. You need to have clockwork mod recovery installed . Check this article to install it.

3. Now you have to go through your phone and enable Unknown sources in settings >applications>unknown sources and also enable USB debugging from settings>applications>development>USB debugging .

4.  Have at least 80 % charge before starting this procedure .

• Before flashing this custom rom make a NANDROID BACKUP of the present rom. Know what is nandroid backup and restore here.

How To Install :

1. Copy the file to the root of your sd card (root means copy to sd card do not store in any folder) .

2. Now take out your phone and then make sure you have already rooted and battery is atleast 80% charged .

3. Now shut down your mobile and boot to recovery mode ( press volume up button+menu button+ power button together )

4. Here select wipe data /reset and select yes when asked . Also select wipe cache partition and select yes.

5. Now select Install from sd card and then select update from sd card .

6. Here select the JELLYBLASTV3.signed.zip and select yes when prompted .

7. Then let it install and leave it until it installs .

8. After installation , in main menu  select reboot now .

9. This time reboot takes 5-10 minutes.

10. You have successfully installed your custom ROM on mobile .

Flashing custom ROMs.

HOW TO FLASH ANY CUSTOM ROM TO SGY.

• REQUIREMENTS:

                Rooted phone.(If you don't know what is root or to root your SGY visit here ROOT )

                 CWM recovery.( CWM.ZIP here)

                 ROM's zip file.

                 SDCARD with a minimum space of about 1 GB.

                 Fully charged battery.

• PROCEDURE:

1.      Keep the cwm.zip, rom's zip files in the root of the sdcard(not within any folder).
2.      Turn off the phone and boot into recovery by pressing volume up+power+home buttons, from the stock recovery select 'apply update from sdcard' and select the cwm.zip.
3.     From cwm recovery select 'mounts and storage', then mount all. 
     
   
   
   
4.     Go back and wipe 'data' and cache'.( press power button to go back)
5.     From recovery select 'advanced' then wipe 'dalvik cache'  ( if you don't wipe dalvik cache you cannot install new apps in your new rom), wipe 'battery stats' and then select 'fix permissions' 
6.     Go back to 'mounts and storage' and format 'system', format 'cache', format 'data', DO NOT FORMAT SDCARD.
7.     Again go to 'mounts and storage' and mount all.
8.     Back to recovery and select 'install zip from sdcard' then 'choose zip from sdcard' and select the rom's zip.
9. It takes few minutes to flash the new rom, after the completion again wipe 'data' and 'cache' for reducing the possibility of bootloop.
10. Reboot the phone, first boot takes around 5 min.
11. Check out the new rom....!!!

NANDROID BACKUP AND RESTORE.

• Nandroid backup is very much required if you are flashing a new custom ROM.

When you flash some ROM zip files to the phone, you may end up in boot-loops or you may brick your phone too. In that case you can revert back to the previous ROM by restoring the Nandroid backup. Always keep a backup of the stock ROM before flashing anything to the phone.

REQUIREMENTS:

• SDCARD with minimum 1 GB free space.
• cwm.zip

Follow these simple steps,

  1.Nandroid backup:

            Keep the cwm.zip in the sdcard( not within any folder) and turn off the phone. Now go to recovery by pressing volume up+power+home buttons together. From the stock recovery select 'apply update from sdcard' and select the cwm.zip, now you are in cwm recovery. From cwm recovery select 'backup and restore'. you will see three options,

1.Backup

2.Restore

3.Advanced restore

 Select the first option 'backup', and it starts to backup your current rom. You will see these lines during the process

'backing up system', 'backing up data', backing up android secure' etc. And the whole ROM will be backed up in the sdcard in the folder 'clockworkmod' .

 Once the backup is finished, you can reboot your phone.

2. RESTORE:

     This is when you want to restore the backed up ROM. The backed up ROM will be saved in a folder 'clockworkmod' in the sdcard. 

  Switch off the phone and boot into cwm recovery, here select 'backup and restore' and select the 'restore' option. Now select the backed up ROM, and select YES. The date and time of backup will be the name of the file. After the restore completes reboot the phone.

Now you will be thinking what's the use of the third option 'Advanced restore'. From this option you can separately restore data or system or cache. 

          

Walkman music player for SGY...!!

REQUIREMENTS: 

•     Rooted Galaxy Y.
•     Root explorer app.
  

PROCEDURE:

        Download the apk file given, then open the root explorer app.

Make sure to Mount as R/W(Read and Write) it should not be R/O(Read only).

      Now copy the apk from the sdcard and paste it in 'system/app'.

The root explorer should be given root access.

      !! check your app drawer and enjoy the Walkman.

What's after Rooting....?

     U might be thinking what to do after rooting,

let me tell you what all the things that you can do with Galaxy Y after rooting.

•     You can flash custom ROMs to your phone, which are  made only for Galaxy Y.

•    Custom kernels can be flashed which are more stable and powerful than stock kernel, you can also overclock your phone up to 1.2 GHz with Merruk kernel. 
  
•     You can freeze some applications from working using Link2sd or titanium backup.

•     By installing Chainfire3D you can play HD games on your phone......!!! Its only for phones with 1 GHz processors or more powerful, anyhow it works on our SGY too...!

Rooting SGY video.

 Hello everyone, wondering what is ROOTING...?

               

Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem.

Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user. On Android, rooting can also facilitate the complete removal and replacement of the device's operating system, usually with a more recent release of its current operating system.

Now let me tell you how to root your GALAXY YOUNG easily.

•   REQUIREMENTS:

1.                 UPDATE.ZIP file.
2.                 Minimum battery level of 75%.

•   PROCEDURE: 

           Download the zip file and keep it at the root of your SD card (not within any folder)

         Switch off the phone and reboot into recovery mode (by pressing, volume up+power+home buttons together).

       In the recovery mode the touch screen doesn't work, hence you have to navigate through the Volume buttons and select using the Home button. 

       Select the option 'apply update from sdcard', and select the UPDATE.ZIP.

      

      Your phone flashes the zip file, now select 'reboot', and your phone turns on.

     CONGRATS.....!!  You have successfully rooted your Galaxy Y.

    You can check for the SUPERUSER app in your phone to verify.

Note: Rooting removes the warranty from your phone, do it at your own risk.
How ever you can get it back by unrooting our device..;-)

         

• UNROOTING GALAXY Y:

By this process you will lose your root access in your phone.

Its simple and same as rooting your phone.

Instead of flashing UPDATE.ZIP, u have to flash UPDATE-UNROOT.ZIP for this process.

 All the steps are same.

• FLASHING CWM RECOVERY:

The stock recovery of ANDROID has limitations, hence for advanced uses we can use CLOCKWORKMODE recovery, which provides much more options like Backup and Restore, Mounts and Storage etc.

      Download and keep the CWM.ZIP in the root of your phone, then turn off the phone and reboot into stock recovery.

      From there select 'apply update from sdcard', and select the cwm.zip. 

    That's it, you are now in the cwm recovery.
